I repackaged mine and returned it to Amazon for a refund. Everything about this device stinks of cheap manufacturing. The CF slot was practically unusable, as the opening is too wide and it was challenging to get the card lined up with the pins.
I only have SD and CF media cards, but the device wouldn't recognize either of those. I might have figured it was just a defective unit, but the drive seems poorly manufactured. As far as I could determine, the only slot that worked on this piece of junk was the USB port.
For $18 I would have expected better quality. My advice: stay away. There are indicator lights for each slot, and when I would plug the card in, the light would go on, but Windows XP never recognized the card.
No drives appear in My Computer and there's nothing in Device Manager.
I wound replacing my floppy drive with an Ultra combination floppy and media drive(link below) and a USB expansion card with a 4 pin interfce because DEll omitted to provide a 4 pin USB interface on my motherboardInternal Media Drive Black. I didn't have such an interface on my motherboard (Dell Dimension 8300)and couldn't find a USB expansion card that did so I returned it to Amazon. It probably works well if you have the proper interface. It has a plug with 4 pin holes over 5.
It's good
